Dr. Pamela Z. Dube

Born and bred in Kwazulu-Natal and raised in the township of Kwamakhutha, Pamela’s humble beginnings include high school years spent at at Inanda Seminary, culminating in a matriculation exemption in 1984. This was followed by a BA (English and Speech and Drama majors), supported by the then Institute of Race Relations, and an Honours degree (Speech and Drama) in 1988, where she was supported by the German Academic Exchange scholarship programme (DAAD). Her advanced postgraduate studies in Comparative Literature and Media were pursued through DAAD support in Germany, at the University of Siegen, where she completed her MA studies in 1992 and a PhD programme in 1996. She has published widely in her area of expertise, including in international peer-reviewed publications.

Pamela is a seasoned professional whose vast career include education and research, media/communication and literature, human resources development as well as international relations. She is a past senior employee of the National Department of Education in higher education policy, a lecturer and researcher at the Universities of Siegen in Germany and the University of Natal in Pietermaritzburg and is currently employed by a science and technology parastatal (the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation/ Necsa) where she has managed an international relations office and is currently heading the learning and people development unit. She is passionate about facilitating opportunities to knowledge and committed to provision of access to educational opportunities, as well as to personal and professional development of a cadre of well rounded knowledgeable leaders of talent and effectiveness across African society and the world at large. She is a Board member of a few local and international education and research organizations, including the South Africa Netherlands Research Programme on Alternatives in Development (SANPAD). She is a mentor for the Mandela Rhodes scholarship programme and has supported processes at a variety of scholarship organizations, including the Uniliver Mandela Scholarship programme, the Fulbright –South Africa programme, the Australian, the Commonwealth, the Chinese – South Africa programme and is also a Ministerial Appointee to the Council of the University of Pretoria.
