Dr. Ralf Hermann
Ralf Hermann is the head of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Information Centre South Africa in Johannesburg.
He achieved his MA in German Studies and African Studies at the University of Leipzig, Germany, and an MSc in General and Comparative Literature at Edinburgh. He also accomplished an advanced course in German as a Foreign Language at the Herder Institute of the University of Leipzig. He holds a PhD in literature for his thesis on Africa in German narrative prose of the 18th Century.
Dr Hermann taught German literature and philosophy at the University of Leipzig and conducted German language courses to immigrants at a number of private institutes. From 2003-07 he represented the German Academic Exchange Service at the University of Belgrade, Serbia, where he also lectured in the German Department of the Philological Faculty and acted as founding director of the first Serbian TestDaF German language centre. Since 2008, he has been in charge of the DAAD IC Johannesburg, based at Wits University, where he is also a lecturer in the German department. |
